Its body is always slimy. It often bangs its head on the river bottom as it swims but seems not to care.

Crystal

Quagsire Weakness

Quagsire's Water/Ground typing leaves it vulnerable to Grass. Grass hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Electric-type attacks completely. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. With 95 HP and balanced defenses, Quagsire can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.

Quagsire Guide

  • In Crystal, watch for Exeggutor (Grass) when using Quagsire. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Exeggutor is the most dangerous since Grass moves deal 4x damage. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 35 Speed, Quagsire won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • In Crystal, Wooper evolves into Quagsire at level 20. Quagsire is the final evolution in a 3-stage line starting from Wooper. It sits at 430 BST in its evolved form.

  • For Crystal, it depends on your team. Quagsire at 430 BST isn't a powerhouse, but the Water/Ground coverage might be exactly what you're missing.

  • In Crystal, Quagsire has a 430 base stat total and ranks as C-Tier: a niche pick in Crystal's meta. It works best as a trick room. Earthquake with Leftovers is the standard set.

  • In Crystal, Water/Ground typing gives Quagsire 5 resistances plus Electric immunity. Base 95 HP is the standout stat. 430 BST gives it a workable foundation.

Game Availability

Quagsire first appeared in Gold & Silver and has been available in 17 games across 9 generations. Obtainable through wild encounters in most titles where it appears.
