Unaware ignores the opponent's stat boosts, letting Quagsire hit way above its stat class. Water/Ground typing helps — Electric moves can't touch it, and only a single type hits it super-effectively. A competitive option since Gen 2.
Quagsire's spread favors physical bulk over offense. HP leads the defensive side, Speed eats the cost. Yields 2 HP EVs per defeat. Medium-fast 1M XP curve to level.
This carefree Pokémon has an easy-going nature. While swimming, it always bumps into boat hulls.
Due to its relaxed and carefree attitude, it often bumps its head on boulders and boat hulls as it swims.
Quagsire Weakness
GoodQuagsire's Water/Ground typing leaves it vulnerable to Grass moves. Grass hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Electric-type attacks completely. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Water Absorb grants an additional Water immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. With 95 HP and balanced defenses, Quagsire can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)
Quagsire is the evolved form of Wooper. Breeding produces Wooper eggs, and they're average hatch time. Evolving from Wooper gave Quagsire the biggest boost in HP (+40), bringing the total to 430 stats.
How to Evolve
Breed with Quagsire to get Wooper eggs easily using 131 partners from the Ground and Water1 egg groups. Notable egg moves include Ancient Power, Body Slam, Counter and 9 more.
Quagsire's built to absorb hits. Impish nature leans into physical wall duty, Leftovers gives it passive recovery each turn, and Recover handles sustain. Waterabsorb and HP-heavy investment EVs tie the defensive profile together.

Don't let Quagsire's 430 base stat total fool you. Unaware is what makes it tick — it punches way above its weight class. We rate it B-Tier as a trick room.
Watch for Exeggutor (Grass) when using Quagsire. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Exeggutor is the most dangerous since Grass moves deal 4x damage. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 35 Speed, Quagsire won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Run Unaware on Quagsire. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Quagsire also gets Damp and Water Absorb, but they don't compare.
Quagsire fills the trick room role. It's a physical attacker with base 85 Attack. Base 35 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
