Is Jumpluff Good in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Playthrough?

Grass/Flying with excellent speed and nothing else. Can spread status with MoveSleep Powder, but Butterfree does that earlier and better. Outclassed by every Grass and Flying option in Alola.

Jumpluff Weakness

Ice, Fire, Poison, Flying, and Rock moves hit Jumpluff for super-effective damage. Ice hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. The upside? Ground-type moves can't touch it at all. Jumpluff's special bulk (base 95 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Jumpluff Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Guide

  • In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Don't let Jumpluff's 460 base stat total fool you. Chlorophyll is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as a support. Leech Seed with Bigroot is the standard set.

  • In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, watch for Cloyster (Ice), Arcanine (Fire), and Nidoking (Poison) when using Jumpluff. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Cloyster is the most dangerous since Ice moves deal 4x damage. Flying and Rock-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Run Chlorophyll on Jumpluff. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Jumpluff also gets Leaf Guard and Infiltrator, but they don't compare.

  • In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Jumpluff fills the support role. It's a mixed attacker with base 55 Attack and 55 Sp. Atk. Base 110 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, run Leech Seed, Sleep Powder, Giga Drain, and Memento on Jumpluff. Leech Seed is the most common pick at 0% usage. This set covers the support role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Jumpluff first appeared in Gold & Silver and has been available in 16 games across 9 generations. Obtainable through wild encounters in most titles where it appears.
