Jumpluff Weakness

Ice, Fire, Poison, Flying, and Rock moves hit Jumpluff for super-effective damage. Ice hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. The upside? Ground-type moves can't touch it at all. Jumpluff's special bulk (base 95 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Jumpluff Guide

  • In Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, Don't let Jumpluff's 460 base stat total fool you. Chlorophyll is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as a pivot. Sleep Powder with Wide Lens is the standard set.

  • In Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, watch for Cloyster (Ice), Arcanine (Fire), and Nidoking (Poison) when using Jumpluff. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Cloyster is the most dangerous since Ice moves deal 4x damage. Flying and Rock-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • In Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, Run Chlorophyll on Jumpluff. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Jumpluff also gets Leaf Guard and Infiltrator, but they don't compare.

  • In Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, Jumpluff fills the pivot role. It's leaning toward the physical side (base 55 Attack). Base 110 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • In Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, run Sleep Powder, Strengthsap, Leech Seed, and Substitute on Jumpluff. Sleep Powder is the most common pick at 23% usage. This set covers the pivot role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Jumpluff first appeared in Gold & Silver and has been available in 16 games across 9 generations. Obtainable through wild encounters in most titles where it appears.
