Stats & Training
Jumpluff's spread isn't flashy. Speed leads, Attack trails, 2 stats clear the bar. Tough to catch and worth 3 Speed EVs, on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
It drifts on seasonal winds and spreads its cotton-like spores all over the world to make more offspring.
Once it catches the wind, it deftly controls its cotton-puff spores to float, even around the world.
Jumpluff Weakness
Ice, Fire, Poison, Flying, and Rock moves hit Jumpluff for super-effective damage. Ice hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. The upside? Ground-type moves can't touch it at all. Jumpluff's special bulk (base 95 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Ice |
| 2x (Weak) | Fire, Poison, Flying, Rock |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Water, Fighting |
| 0.25x (Resist) | Grass |
| 0x (Immune) | Ground |
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move
In FireRed & LeafGreen, Claydol's Explosion hits Jumpluff for 76-90%. Magneton deals 43-50% with Thunderbolt.

Jumpluff Guide
In FireRed & LeafGreen, Don't let Jumpluff's 460 base stat total fool you. Chlorophyll is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as a pivot. Leech Seed with Leftovers is the standard set.
In FireRed & LeafGreen, watch for Cloyster (Ice), Arcanine (Fire), and Nidoking (Poison) when using Jumpluff. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Cloyster is the most dangerous since Ice moves deal 4x damage. Flying and Rock-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.
In FireRed & LeafGreen, Run Chlorophyll on Jumpluff. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Jumpluff also gets Leaf Guard and Infiltrator, but they don't compare.
In FireRed & LeafGreen, Jumpluff fills the pivot role. It's a mixed attacker with base 55 Attack and 55 Sp. Atk. Base 110 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
In FireRed & LeafGreen, run Leech Seed, Sleep Powder, Encore, and Substitute on Jumpluff. Leech Seed is the most common pick at 23% usage. This set covers the pivot role with a mix of damage and utility.
