Azumarill punches above its weight class thanks to Huge Power. It doubles its effective Attack, which is enough to make up for stats that don't impress on their own. Only weak to Electric and Grass. Known as the Aqua Rabbit Pokemon.
Bulk defines Azumarill's stat line. HP and Defense anchor the defensive side, but Attack can't keep up offensively. Moderately hard to find and worth 3 HP EVs.
When it plays in water, it rolls up its elongated ears to prevent their insides from getting wet.
By keeping still and listening intently, it can even tell what is in wild, fast-moving rivers.
Azumarill Weakness
GoodAzumarill is weak to Electric and Grass-type moves. 4 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Thick Fat reduces Fire/Ice damage, further improving the defensive spread. With 100 HP and balanced defenses, Azumarill can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move
End of the line. Azumarill caps a three-stage chain that started at Azurill. Breeding produces the base form, and eggs are quick to hatch. HP grew the most through evolution (+50 over Azurill), and Azumarill peaks at 420 total stats.
How to Evolve
Breed with Azumarill to get Azurill eggs easily using 27 partners from the Fairy and Water1 egg groups. Notable egg moves include Amnesia, Belly Drum, Encore and 10 more.
Huge Power helps Azumarill stick around while dealing real damage. Leftovers for passive recovery each turn, max HP and Attack EVs for the right balance, and Focuspunch as the main threat. Not the fastest, but it doesn't need to be.

Breeding opens up real options for Azumarill. Amnesia and Belly Drum come exclusively from egg moves, and they're worth the effort. The rest of the kit covers basics through Hydro Pump and Surf and coverage across 7 types.

This 3-stage chain starts with Azurill, a baby that doesn't spawn wild. Breed Marill at the nursery to hatch one, then level through the stages to reach Azumarill.

Huge Power changes the entire equation for Azumarill. The 420 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier.
Huge Power is what you want on Azumarill. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Thick Fat, Sap Sipper) work on paper but Huge Power is what makes Azumarill worth using.
Base 50 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Azumarill is leaning toward the special side (base 60 Sp. Atk). Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.
