Azumarill punches above its weight class thanks to Huge Power. It doubles its effective Attack, which is enough to make up for stats that don't impress on their own. Dragon moves can't touch it, and only 3 types hit it super-effectively.
Bulk defines Azumarill's stat line. HP and Defense anchor the defensive side, but Attack can't keep up offensively. Moderately hard to find and worth 3 HP EVs.
Azumarill’s long ears are indispensable sensors. By focusing its hearing, this Pokémon can identify what kinds of prey are around, even in rough and fast-running rivers.
Azumarill can make balloons out of air. It makes these air balloons if it spots a drowning Pokémon. The air balloons enable the Pokémon in trouble to breathe.
Azumarill Weakness
GoodAzumarill is weak to Electric, Grass, and Poison-type moves. On the flip side, it's immune to Dragon-type moves entirely. With 6 resistances, the defensive profile is strong. Thick Fat reduces Fire/Ice damage, further improving the defensive spread. With 100 HP and balanced defenses, Azumarill can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.
End of the line. Azumarill caps a three-stage chain that started at Azurill. Breeding produces the base form, and eggs are quick to hatch. HP grew the most through evolution (+50 over Azurill), and Azumarill peaks at 420 total stats.
How to Evolve
Breed with Azumarill to get Azurill eggs easily from the Fairy and Water1 egg groups. Notable egg moves include Amnesia, Aqua Jet, Belly Drum and 17 more.
Azumarill runs a standard physical attacker set. Adamant nature with max HP and Attack EVs shapes the build, while Sitrus Berry brings a one-time health recovery at low HP. Huge Power supports the kit from the background.

The TM pool is where it gets interesting. Coverage across 10 types means almost nothing walls Azumarill cleanly, with Hydro Pump and Aqua Tail anchoring the STAB side. Matchup flexibility isn't a problem.

Huge Power changes the entire equation for Azumarill. The 420 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked B-Tier.
Huge Power is what you want on Azumarill. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Thick Fat, Sap Sipper) work on paper but Huge Power is what makes Azumarill worth using.
Base 50 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Azumarill is leaning toward the special side (base 60 Sp. Atk). Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.
Azumarill appears in 17 games, including Gold & Silver, Crystal, and Ruby & Sapphire.
Available in 17 titles since its debut in Gold & Silver, Azumarill spans 8 generations of Pokemon games. It's accessible through wild encounters in most mainline games.
