Everything about Celebi's stat line is built to win. 100 base HP leads the way, and even its worst stat (100 HP) isn't a real liability. Watch the Bug matchup though — quadruple damage means one hit can end it. A longtime staple going back to Gen 2.

You won't find a real weakness in Celebi's stat line. It's well-rounded for the Time Travel Pokemon, and what it does with that depends on moveset and items. Yields 3 HP EVs, on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.

When CELEBI disappears deep in a forest, it is said to leave behind an egg it brought from the future.

Fire Red

This POKéMON wanders across time. Grass and trees flourish in the forests in which it has appeared.

Leaf Green

Celebi Weakness

Fragile

Celebi's Psychic/Grass typing leaves it vulnerable to Bug, Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, Ghost, and Dark moves. Bug hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It resists 6 types, so it can switch into a lot of moves safely. Celebi's overall bulk (100/100/100) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.

The level-up pool is slim, so TMs matter here. Celebi's Rock and Flying coverage and more all comes from technical machines, built on top of Future Sight and Solar Beam for same-type damage. Future Sight and Hyper Beam are the payoff moves.

Celebi doesn't appear in FireRed & LeafGreen. Transfer it from Crystal to add it to your collection. Check the source games below for encounter details.

Celebi is not available as a wild encounter in this game.

Also found in:

  • At 600 BST, Celebi is built different. We rank it S-Tier. As a Mythical Pokemon, the raw stats back up the reputation. Best used as a sweeper.

  • Watch for Scizor (Bug), Arcanine (Fire), and Lapras (Ice) when using Celebi. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Scizor is the most dangerous since Bug moves deal 4x damage. Poison, Flying, Ghost, and Dark-type attackers are also a problem. With 7 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. Celebi has enough bulk to absorb a hit, but don't push the matchup. Pivot to a teammate that resists.

  • Celebi doesn't evolve. As a Mythical Pokemon, it stands on its own without an evolutionary line. It's a Psychic/Grass type with 600 BST.

  • Celebi gets Natural Cure. But Natural Cure is the one that matters — it's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that. With base 100 Speed, Natural Cure gives Celebi an edge before opponents can react.

  • Celebi is a special attacker with base 100 Sp. Atk. Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 100 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the sweeper role.

  • Celebi appears in 16 games, including Gold & Silver, Crystal, and Ruby & Sapphire.

Introduced in Gold & Silver, Celebi shows up in 16 games across 8 generations. Mythical status keeps it locked behind events or specific story content in most appearances.
