That 4x Rock weakness is something every Volcarona user needs to plan around. At least it resists 6 types to make up for it. Clears the crowded base-100 Speed benchmark. Known as the Sun Pokemon.
Sp. Atk and Sp. Def carry most of Volcarona's stat budget. Attack's the obvious dump stat. Very hard to catch and yields 3 Sp. Atk EVs. Follows a slow 1.25M XP grind.
As it flies, it scatters its flaming scales. It was feared by ancient people, who referred to it as “the rage of the sun.”
According to legends, it was hatched from a flaming cocoon to save people and Pokémon that were suffering from the cold.
Volcarona Weakness
AvgRock, Water, and Flying-type moves hit Volcarona for super-effective damage. Rock hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. With 6 resistances, the defensive profile is strong. Volcarona's special bulk (base 105 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
Evolved from Larvesta. Volcarona is the final form in this two-stage line. No compatible partners for breeding via one egg group. Eggs are takes forever to hatch. Sp.Atk grew the most through evolution (+85 over Larvesta), and Volcarona peaks at 550 total stats.
How to Evolve
Breed with Volcarona to get Larvesta eggs from the Bug egg group. Notable egg moves include Endure, Foresight, Harden and 4 more.
Volcarona runs Quiver Dance to boost before sweeping. Flame Body and Timid nature shape the build, with max Sp. Atk and Speed EVs to capitalize after one turn of setup, plus the remaining moves to back it up.

Without breeding, Volcarona misses out on Endure and Foresight. That's 7 egg moves adding depth that the base kit lacks. STAB comes from Overheat and Flare Blitz, with Grass and Flying coverage and more rounding things out.
