Is Abra Good in Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Playthrough?

Abra appears early in the game and immediately Teleports on sight. Getting past that takes patience or a Quick Ball, but the Psychic power it brings by Wattson's gym makes the grind worthwhile. One of the best early investments in ORAS.

Abra Weakness

Abra's Psychic typing leaves it vulnerable to Bug, Ghost, and Dark. Abra's special bulk (base 55 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Pokedex Entry

Abra sleeps for eighteen hours a day. However, it can sense the presence of foes even while it is sleeping. In such a situation, this Pokémon immediately teleports to safety.

Abra needs to sleep for eighteen hours a day. If it doesn’t, this Pokémon loses its ability to use telekinetic powers. If it is attacked, Abra escapes using Teleport while it is still sleeping.

Abra Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Guide

  • In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Abra does the job early-game if you need a Psychic type on your team. Evolve it into Kadabra before the later gyms and it holds up fine through the story.

Game Availability

Abra has been part of the series since Red & Blue, appearing in 21 titles across all 10 generations. As a Gen 1 original, it's one of the most consistently available Pokemon in the franchise.
