Abra Weakness

Abra has no type weaknesses thanks to its unique defensive typing. It shrugs off Ghost-type attacks completely.

Red & Blue Abra Best Moveset

Best Build

Gen 1 build content has limited support (no abilities, held items, or natures).

Try selecting a different game/generation filter, or check back later.

Moves

Without TMs, Abra's movepool is bare bones. With them, you get Normal and Fighting coverage on top of Psychic and Psywave for STAB. The natural kit handles basics, but TMs are doing the real work.

Abra Guide

  • In Red & Blue, Abra isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Kadabra to unlock its full potential. At 360 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.

  • Abra has no type weaknesses, making it hard to counter through typing alone. Focus on status moves, entry hazards, or raw neutral damage to take it down.

  • In Red & Blue, Abra fills the attacker role. It's a special attacker with base 105 Special. Base 90 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. And it's fragile, can't afford to take many hits.

  • In Red & Blue, Abra does the job early-game if you need a Psychic type on your team. Evolve it into Kadabra before the later gyms and it holds up fine through the story.

  • Level 16 gets you Kadabra. Quick enough that Abra barely slows you down.

Game Availability

Abra has been part of the series since Red & Blue, appearing in 21 titles across all 10 generations. As a Gen 1 original, it's one of the most consistently available Pokemon in the franchise.
