Stats & Training
Special leads and Defense gets almost nothing. That's Kadabra's stat line in a nutshell. 3 stats sit in respectable range, but the spread is brutal. Moderately hard to find and yields 2 Special stat exp.
It emits special alpha waves from its body that induce headaches just by being close by.

Kadabra Weakness
Kadabra has no type weaknesses thanks to its unique defensive typing. On the flip side, it's immune to Ghost-type moves entirely.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fighting, Psychic |
| 0x (Immune) | Ghost |
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split
Red & Blue Evolution
Kadabra sits between Abra and Alakazam in this three-stage chain. A Psychic type at 450 stats that can't breed. Special has grown the most so far (+65), but there's still another 50 stats to gain in the final evolution. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.

TMs carry this one. Kadabra learns Psychic and Psybeam naturally for STAB, but the offensive range comes almost entirely from technical machines. Normal and Fighting and beyond give it real matchup play.

Kadabra Guide
Kadabra is meant to evolve into Alakazam. At 450 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
Kadabra has no type weaknesses, making it hard to counter through typing alone. Focus on status moves, entry hazards, or raw neutral damage to take it down.
Base 105 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. On offense, Kadabra is a special attacker with base 120 Special. Best used as a sweeper.
For Red & Blue, you can run Kadabra through the first few routes without issues. 450 BST won't carry you far though. Get it to Alakazam as fast as you can.
Game Availability
One of the original 151, Kadabra has appeared in 21 games — nearly every mainline game. From Red & Blue through the latest titles, it's rarely been left out of a regional Pokedex.
