Vaporeon Weakness
Type-wise, Vaporeon takes extra damage from Electric and Grass. The Water typing picks up 4 resistances to work with. Water Absorb grants an additional Water immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Vaporeon's special bulk (base 95 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Electric, Grass |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Water, Ice, Steel |
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)

Vaporeon Evolutions
Vaporeon is one of 7 ways Eevee's chain can end. This one takes the item path, while the siblings go different directions. Breed through Eevee to get eggs. Vaporeon and Jolteon share the same 525 total stats, but they're distributed differently. Check the comparison below to see where each one specializes. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.

B2W2 Vaporeon Best Moveset
130 HP and 110 Sp. Atk behind AbilityWater Absorb absorbing enemy Water moves for free healing. The moveset answers Water attackers by switching in for HP instead of damage. MoveWish passes half of that enormous HP to teammates. Bulk and special power that outlast most matchups.

Breeding's the move. Charm and Covet give Vaporeon options it can't learn any other way, and coverage across 9 types already covers a decent range on top of Hydro Pump and Muddy Water. The egg moves push it further.

Vaporeon Black 2 & White 2 Guide
In Black 2 & White 2, Vaporeon looks average on paper at 525 BST. But Water Absorb is why it sees play. Build around that and it pulls its weight. B-Tier tank on our tier list. Scald with Leftovers is the standard set.
Vaporeon gets Water Absorb and Hydration. But Water Absorb is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.
Vaporeon is a special attacker with base 110 Sp. Atk. Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. Speed tells the real story. At base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. Fits the tank role.
For Black 2 & White 2, the core moveset is Scald, Wish, Ice Beam, and Toxic. Scald leads at 0% usage. Scald provides reliable STAB damage.
