Black 2 and White 2 extend Unova's map south into the Pokestar Studios film complex and the redesigned Castelia sewers. The Reversal Mountain tunnel between Lentimas and Undella Towns opens after you've cleared the postgame route eastward.

Start at Aspertia City and follow the cards through Black 2 and White 2's Unova in story order, or filter by encounter method or type. The Pokemon World Tournament arena west of Driftveil City lets you rematch gym leaders and champions from across the entire series as a postgame ladder.

Special encounters are the one-time, fixed-location Pokemon you won't catch in random wild grass. Black 2 & White 2 has 17 total: 15 Legendary (story-locked, once per save) and 2 Static (gift Pokemon and route roadblocks).
Small forest clearings scattered across routes that respawn a hidden Pokemon every 256 steps. Grotto Pokemon have their hidden ability, which is normally unobtainable through regular encounters. Each grotto has a fixed species pool. Breloom with Technician, Dragonite with Multiscale, and Politoed with Drizzle are some of the best finds. Check each location page for its grotto contents.
Two years have passed in-game. Several routes froze over or changed layout. New areas opened up (Floccesy Town, Virbank City, Humilau City) while others changed encounters. You also get access to old-gen Pokemon from the start instead of being locked to Gen 5 only. The postgame opens even more locations including a fully explorable Black City or White Forest.
The Pokedex has a per-route completion tracker showing which Pokemon you've caught at each location. When you catch every species available at a location, it gets a completion stamp. Useful for knowing what you're missing without checking external resources. The encounter tables on this site match the habitat list structure.
Medals reward you for exploring thoroughly. Catching every species at a route, finding hidden items, or defeating all trainers in an area each give medals. The Medal Rally tracker in your Key Items shows progress per location. It's a built-in checklist for completionists working through every area.
