Map LocationsCrystal
"Crystal layers new Johto wild Pokemon and a roaming Suicune storyline on top of Gold and Silver's time-based encounter system. The female-protagonist option also debuted here, a series first."
CRYSTAL MAP
Crystal's map keeps Gold and Silver's two-region layout but resurfaces with Mt. Silver and the level-70 Red rematch at Kanto's western edge.
CRYSTAL LOCATIONS
From New Bark Town forward, every Crystal location sits in story order. Filter by encounter method or type to find a specific spot. The Battle Tower outside Olivine City debuted in Crystal as the series' first competitive postgame facility before Emerald turned the concept into the Battle Frontier.

SPECIAL ENCOUNTERS
Special encounters are the one-time, fixed-location Pokemon you won't catch in random wild grass. Crystal has 6 total: 2 Legendary (story-locked, once per save) and 4 Static (gift Pokemon and route roadblocks).
Several routes got new Pokemon added or swapped. Phanpy appears on Route 45 (Crystal only), Teddiursa on Route 46, and Sneasel in various caves. Some version-exclusive splits from G/S were removed or changed. The overall species count per route tends to be slightly higher than Gold or Silver individually.
No. Unlike Gold and Silver where all three legendary beasts roam, Crystal gives Suicune a fixed encounter at the top of Tin Tower after you chase it through several locations (Cianwood, Route 42, Kanto Route 25). Raikou and Entei still roam normally. The Suicune quest is one of Crystal's biggest additions.
Yes. Morning (4-10am), Day (10am-6pm), and Night (6pm-4am) all work the same way. Some routes gained new time-specific Pokemon that weren't in Gold or Silver, but the time slots themselves are identical.
A special egg from the Day Care Man in Goldenrod City that hatches into one of several baby Pokemon (Pichu, Cleffa, Igglybuff, Tyrogue, Smoochum, Elekid, or Magby). Crystal exclusive. The hatched Pokemon has a much higher than normal shiny chance (roughly 14% in the Japanese version, standard odds in international).
Crystal has 83 locations with wild Pokemon encounters, featuring 171 unique Pokemon species. The location with the most Pokemon variety is Route 34 with 26 unique species.
Crystal has 2 legendary encounters: Celebi (Lv. 30 at Ilex Forest), Suicune (Lv. 40 at Bell Tower).
The top fishing locations in Crystal by Pokemon variety are: Olivine City (10 species), Union Cave (7 species), Route 27 (6 species). These locations offer the widest selection of water-type Pokemon through various rod types (Old Rod, Good Rod, Super Rod).
