Map LocationsX&Y

"Horde encounters of five wild Pokemon at once arrive in X and Y, plus the Friend Safari postgame unlocks a unique three-Pokemon habitat for each friend code on your 3DS list. Pancham hides in Route 5 hordes; Audino shows up in the rustling-grass patches scattered across the early routes."

XY MAP

Kalos's star-shaped map radiates from Lumiose City at the center, with five route arms extending to the region's outer towns. The Lost Hotel between Routes 15 and 16 hides Litwick spawns in a Rotom-haunted lobby that doesn't show up on the surface route list.

X & Y LOCATIONS

Vaniville Town anchors X and Y's chapter list, with cards running Kalos in story order. Filter by encounter method or type to narrow the list. The Reflection Cave on Route 11 wraps Carbink and Mawile into a mirror-tiled dungeon, both feeding the new Fairy-type lineup that XY introduced to the series.

FAQ
  • Some grass patches trigger 5-on-1 wild battles. Horde species are often different from single encounters at the same location. They're useful for EV training since you fight 5 Pokemon giving EVs per battle. Use Sweet Scent or Honey to force a horde immediately instead of walking around hoping for one.

  • After beating the Elite Four, Kiloude City opens the Friend Safari. Each person on your 3DS friend list unlocks a safari zone with 2-3 Pokemon based on their friend code. The species pool includes starters, fossils, and Pokemon with hidden abilities not available anywhere else. More friends means more safaris.

  • Yes. Cast your line consecutively without moving, missing, or pulling up empty. Each successful catch in a row increases shiny odds. After 20+ consecutive hooks the odds plateau at roughly 1/100. Pick a spot surrounded by rocks so you can't accidentally move, and fish until a shiny bites.

  • Flowers have different encounter tables from tall grass on the same route. Caves have shadows on the ceiling (Zubat, Woobat) separate from floor encounters. Horde battles add a 5v1 layer. Pokemon visible in the overworld are usually fixed one-time encounters, not respawning randoms. More encounter variety per location than any previous gen.

  • X & Y has 50 locations with wild Pokemon encounters, featuring 280 unique Pokemon species. The location with the most Pokemon variety is Ambrette Town with 25 unique species.

  • X & Y has 7 legendary encounters: Yveltal (Lv. 50 at Team Flare HQ), Xerneas (Lv. 50 at Team Flare HQ), Zygarde (Lv. 70 at Terminus Cave), Mewtwo (Lv. 70 at Unknown Dungeon), Articuno (Lv. 70 at Sea Spirit's Den), Zapdos (Lv. 70 at Sea Spirit's Den), Moltres (Lv. 70 at Sea Spirit's Den).

  • The top fishing locations in X & Y by Pokemon variety are: Route 8 (10 species), Cyllage City (8 species), Ambrette Town (8 species). These locations offer the widest selection of water-type Pokemon through various rod types (Old Rod, Good Rod, Super Rod).
