Map LocationsBlack&White
"Unova in Black and White runs on a seasonal encounter system where the same route holds different wild Pokemon in spring than it does in winter. Cubchoo, for example, only shows up at Twist Mountain and Giant Chasm in winter, never in any other season."
BW MAP
Unova's map runs a counterclockwise loop with the central Skyarrow Bridge linking Castelia City to the western route network. Liberty Garden Island sits offshore as a Mystery Gift event spot that hands you the Victini encounter outside the main story.
BLACK & WHITE LOCATIONS
Black and White's chapter cards begin at Nuvema Town and run in story order. Filter by encounter method or type for faster lookup. The Dragonspiral Tower rises north of Icirrus City to host the final showdown with N over Zekrom in Black or Reshiram in White.

SPECIAL ENCOUNTERS
Special encounters are the one-time, fixed-location Pokemon you won't catch in random wild grass. Black & White has 13 total: 9 Legendary (story-locked, once per save) and 4 Static (gift Pokemon and route roadblocks).
Unova cycles through Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter monthly (January = Spring, February = Summer, etc. repeating). Seasons change which Pokemon appear at certain locations. Deerling and Sawsbuck change form. Some areas are only accessible in specific seasons. Winter snow drifts open routes to normally blocked ledges and items in several locations.
Black and White restricts you to the 156 new Unova species until you beat the main story. No Pikachu, no Geodude, no old favorites on any route. This was a deliberate reset so everything feels new. After the credits roll, the National Dex unlocks and previous-gen Pokemon start appearing on several postgame routes.
Random animated patches in grass or water that trigger special encounters. Rustling grass gives Audino (great EXP), evolved forms, and rare species not in the normal table. Rippling water surfaces stronger fish and sometimes Basculin. Dust clouds in caves give Drilbur or items. These aren't always there. Walk around nearby until one spawns.
Route 10 and Victory Road have the strongest pre-E4 encounters (mid 30s to low 40s). Audino grinding in rustling grass is by far the fastest method since Audino gives massive EXP and spawns on almost every route. Find some grass near a Pokemon Center, walk until rustling patches appear, and farm Audino encounters.
Black & White has 51 locations with wild Pokemon encounters, featuring 306 unique Pokemon species. The location with the most Pokemon variety is White Forest with 33 unique species.
Black & White has 9 legendary encounters: Tornadus (Lv. 40 at Roaming Unova), Thundurus (Lv. 40 at Roaming Unova), Cobalion (Lv. 42 at Mistralton Cave), Virizion (Lv. 42 at Pinwheel Forest), Terrakion (Lv. 42 at Victory Road), Zekrom (Lv. 50 at N's Castle), Reshiram (Lv. 50 at N's Castle), Landorus (Lv. 70 at Abundant Shrine), Kyurem (Lv. 75 at Giant Chasm).
The top fishing locations in Black & White by Pokemon variety are: Route 4 (7 species), P2 Laboratory (6 species), Route 13 (5 species). These locations offer the widest selection of water-type Pokemon through various rod types (Old Rod, Good Rod, Super Rod).
