Type-wise, Sceptile takes extra damage from Ice, Poison, Flying, Bug, Dragon, and Fairy. Watch out for Ice attacks, those deal 4x damage. The Grass/Dragon typing picks up 4 resistances to work with. Lightning Rod grants an additional Electric immunity, reshaping the matchup chart.

Moves List
Most of Sceptile's flexibility comes from TMs. Same-type output runs through Frenzy Plant and Leaf Storm, but Normal and Bug and the rest of the TM pool push it from predictable to genuinely threatening.

Sceptile Legends: Z-A Guide
In the Legends: Z-A meta, Sceptile already has 630 BST going for it, and Lightning Rod pushes the competitive value even higher. B-Tier sweeper on our tier list. Leafblade with Leftovers is the standard set.
Mega Evolution isn't available in Legends: Z-A, but Sceptile does have a Mega form in Gen 6-7 games (X/Y, ORAS, Sun/Moon). Mega Sceptile hits 730 BST.
In Legends: Z-A, Sceptile's biggest threats include Walrein (Ice), Crobat (Poison), and Dodrio (Flying), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Walrein is the most dangerous since Ice moves deal 4x damage. Bug, Dragon, and Fairy-type attackers are also a problem. With 6 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.
Sceptile gets Lightning Rod. But Lightning Rod is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that. With base 145 Speed, Lightning Rod gives Sceptile an edge before opponents can react.
Sceptile is a mixed attacker with base 110 Attack and 145 Sp. Atk. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 145 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the sweeper role.
Game Availability
Available since Ruby & Sapphire, Sceptile appears in 16 games spanning 8 generations. Beyond its original form, it gained a Mega form in Generation 6.
