It can swim while towing a large ship. It bashes down foes with a swing of its thick arms.

Swampert Weakness

Swampert is weak to Grass. Watch out for Grass attacks, those deal 4x damage. On the flip side, it's immune to Electric-type moves entirely. The Water/Ground typing picks up 4 resistances to work with. Swampert's overall bulk (100/90/90) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.

Legends: Z-A Swampert Best Moveset

Swampert keeps momentum with Flip Turn, switching out after dealing damage or scouting. Leftovers gives it passive recovery each turn, max HP and Attack EVs let it hit hard on the way out, and the remaining moves prevents dead turns.

Moves

Most of Swampert's flexibility comes from TMs. Same-type output runs through Hydro Cannon and Hydro Pump, but Dark and Normal and the rest of the TM pool push it from predictable to genuinely threatening.

How to Get Swampert in Legends: Z-A

No wild encounters for Swampert in Legends: Z-A. Bring Mudkip over from Ruby, Emerald, or Brilliant Diamond, then level through the stages. Each step in the chain is laid out below.

How to Obtain Swampert in Legends: Z-A

Swampert Guide

  • In Legends: Z-A, Swampert works as a tank with 535 BST behind it. B-Tier on our list: a solid option in Legends: Z-A for the right team. Earthquake with Leftovers is the standard set.

  • Mega Evolution isn't available in Legends: Z-A, but Swampert does have a Mega form in Gen 6-7 games (X/Y, ORAS, Sun/Moon). Mega Swampert hits 635 BST.

  • In Legends: Z-A, Swampert's biggest threats include Breloom (Grass), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Breloom is the most dangerous since Grass moves deal 4x damage. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • Torrent is the go-to ability for Swampert. It strengthens water moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less. Its hidden ability Damp can work in specific setups.

  • Swampert is a physical attacker with base 110 Attack. Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. Speed tells the real story. At base 60 Speed, it won't be moving first often. Fits the tank role.

Game Availability

Available since Ruby & Sapphire, Swampert appears in 16 games spanning 8 generations. Beyond its original form, it gained a Mega form in Generation 6.
