Mudkip sits at the start of its evolution line — not yet at full power, but that changes fast. Most trainers push through to Swampert as fast as possible. Only weak to Electric and Grass. Known as the Mud Fish Pokemon.
Mudkip's spread isn't flashy. Attack leads, Speed trails, 0 stats clear the bar. Tough to catch and worth 1 Attack EV, on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
The fin on MUDKIP’s head acts as highly sensitive radar. Using this fin to sense movements of water and air, this POKéMON can determine what is taking place around it without using its eyes.
In water, MUDKIP breathes using the gills on its cheeks. If it is faced with a tight situation in battle, this POKéMON will unleash its amazing power - it can crush rocks bigger than itself.
Mudkip Weakness
GoodType-wise, Mudkip takes extra damage from Electric and Grass. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Only 2 weaknesses makes it relatively easy to build around defensively.
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move
Mudkip is the start of a three-stage chain. It evolves into Marshtomp first, then eventually reaches Swampert. For breeding, average hatch time with a decent partner pool via two egg groups. Evolving adds up to 225 stat points total.

The egg pool carries weight here. Curse and Ice Ball aren't available any other way for Mudkip, and they meaningfully change what it threatens. Stack those on top of Hydro Pump and Surf for solid options.

Best Locations
Mudkip isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Marshtomp to unlock its full potential. At 310 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.
Mudkip evolves into Marshtomp at level 16. Mudkip is the base form in a 3-stage evolutionary line.
Torrent is the go-to ability for Mudkip. It strengthens water moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less. Its hidden ability Damp can work in specific setups.
Mudkip fills the balanced role. It's a special attacker with base 50 Sp. Atk. Base 40 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's fragile — can't afford to take many hits.
