Platinum Turnback Cave
A cave that scrambles your sense of direction, looping you back to the door unless you read its rooms right. After the Distortion World, Giratina retreats here to brood.
Turnback Cave is in Sinnoh, with Sendoff Spring to the north. In the story it comes after Snowpoint Temple and before Route 224.

Step through any door and the rooms rearrange behind you, a shifting warren whose layout never repeats between the entrance and the deepest chamber. Clear it inside thirty rooms or a doorway throws you back to the mouth.
Pokemon Encounters
Ghosts fill the cave, with Gastly and Haunter thick in the grass and Duskull lurking among them. Chimecho and Dusclops hold the 1 percent slots. Giratina waits at the deepest point, a level 47 catch and the real reason to come.

A cloth imbued with horrifyingly strong spiritual energy. It is loved by a certain Pokemon.

Lovely, red-colored sand with a loose, silky feel. It can be sold at a high price to shops.
Turnback Cave Guide
You get a second chance in a different spot. In Diamond and Pearl, Turnback Cave is where you catch Giratina in the first place, an Altered Forme at Level 70. In Platinum the first encounter moved to the Distortion World as the Origin Forme, so if you beat or run from it there, an Altered Forme Giratina (Level 47, Pressure instead of Levitate) then appears in Turnback Cave's final room after you enter the Hall of Fame. Reaching that room means clearing the cave's randomized maze of three pillar rooms within 30 rooms.
It is not held inside Turnback Cave itself. After you deal with the Altered Forme Giratina in the cave's final room, a portal there opens into a Distortion World section that holds the Griseous Orb, which keeps Giratina in its Origin Forme even outside the Distortion World.
