Pelipper Weakness

Pelipper's Water/Flying typing leaves it vulnerable to Electric and Rock. Electric hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Ground-type attacks completely. It resists 5 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Pelipper's physical bulk (base 100 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.

USUM Pelipper Best Moveset

Gaining AbilityDrizzle this generation transformed Pelipper from a forgotten regional bird into the format's premier rain setter. Rain on entry enables AbilitySwift Swim allies and boosts Water TermStab from 95 Sp. Atk. 100 Defense absorbs physical hits. MoveU-turn hits and switches to bring in rain attackers. The moveset holds S-tier entirely through AbilityDrizzle access that was impossible before this generation.

Pelipper Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Guide

  • In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, watch for Jolteon (Electric) and Golem (Rock) when using Pelipper. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Jolteon is the most dangerous since Electric moves deal 4x damage. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • For Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, it depends on your team. Pelipper at 440 BST isn't a powerhouse, but the Water/Flying coverage might be exactly what you're missing.

  • In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Don't let Pelipper's 440 base stat total fool you. Drizzle is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier. Roost with Damprock is the standard set.

  • In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Run Drizzle on Pelipper. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Pelipper also gets Keen Eye and Rain Dish, but they don't compare.

  • In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Pelipper fills the balanced role. It's a mixed attacker with base 50 Attack and 95 Sp. Atk. At base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

Game Availability

Pelipper first appeared in Ruby & Sapphire and has been available in 16 games across 8 generations. Obtainable through wild encounters in most titles where it appears.
