Stats & Training
Pelipper's spread isn't flashy. Defense leads, Attack trails, 2 stats clear the bar. Tough to catch and worth 2 Defense EVs, on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
It protects its young in its beak. It bobs on waves, resting on them on days when the waters are calm.

Pelipper Weakness
Pelipper's Water/Flying typing leaves it vulnerable to Electric and Rock. Electric hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Ground-type attacks completely. It resists 5 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Pelipper's physical bulk (base 100 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Electric |
| 2x (Weak) | Rock |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Water, Fighting, Bug, Steel |
| 0x (Immune) | Ground |
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)
In HeartGold & SoulSilver, Tyranitar can KO Pelipper with Stone Edge (127-149%). Zapdos threatens a KO with Thunderbolt (177-208%). Aerodactyl's Stone Edge also KOs at 107-126%.

Breadth over depth defines this movepool. Pelipper won't stack one type's damage ceiling, but coverage across 11 types means it always has an effective option. Sky Attack and Hydro Pump anchor the STAB core.

Pelipper Guide
In HeartGold & SoulSilver, Wingull evolves into Pelipper at level 25. Pelipper is the fully evolved form. It sits at 440 BST in its evolved form.
For HeartGold & SoulSilver, it depends on your team. Pelipper at 440 BST isn't a powerhouse, but the Water/Flying coverage might be exactly what you're missing.
In HeartGold & SoulSilver, Don't let Pelipper's 440 base stat total fool you. Drizzle is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as a support. Surf with Life Orb is the standard set.
In HeartGold & SoulSilver, Run Drizzle on Pelipper. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Pelipper also gets Keen Eye and Rain Dish, but they don't compare.
