Scizor Weakness
Scizor is weak to Fire. Watch out for Fire attacks, those deal 4x damage. On the flip side, it's immune to Poison-type moves entirely. It resists 8 types, so it can switch into a lot of moves safely. Scizor's physical bulk (base 140 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.

The level-up pool tells the story here. Scizor learns Giga Impact and Hyper Beam naturally, plus enough variety that TMs feel like bonuses. Normal and Dark coverage and more extends the reach beyond that.

Scizor X & Y Guide
In the X & Y meta, Scizor already has 600 BST going for it, and Technician pushes the competitive value even higher. B-Tier wallbreaker on our tier list. Bullet Punch with Choice Band is the standard set.
In X & Y, yes. Mega Scizor is the evolved form, sitting at 700 BST. Big power spike over base Scizor (600). Equip the Mega Stone and it transforms in battle.
In X & Y, Scizor's biggest threats include Charizard (Fire), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Charizard is the most dangerous since Fire moves deal 4x damage. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. Scizor has enough bulk to absorb a hit, but don't push the matchup. Pivot to a teammate that resists.
Scizor is obtained by trade-evolving Scyther. Catch or evolve a Scyther first, then trade. Trade needs a Game Boy Advance link cable and a second GBA running another Gen 3 game (FireRed, LeafGreen, Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald). Trade Scyther to a friend, then have them trade it back. The 2026 Switch re-release supports the same trade through local wireless on the Pokemon Center 2F Wireless Club, with no cables required. The Metal Coat must be held during the trade. Bring one over from a sibling Gen 3 game if needed.
Scizor gets Technician. But Technician is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that. On wall sets, Technician pairs with Scizor's base 140 Defense to absorb physical hits on the switch.
