Free switch-ins on Poison moves make Scizor useful in any team that needs that coverage. Only 1 weaknesses keeps it safe in most matchups. Technician boosts weaker moves to surprising damage levels. It relies on priority moves or Scarf to keep up.

Nothing fancy in Scizor's spread. It leans physical with Attack out front. And you'll get 2 Attack EVs per KO for it. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.

Bulky pincers account for one third of Scizor’s body weight. A single swing of one of these pincers will crush a boulder completely.

Sword

Though its body is slim, Scizor has tremendous attacking power. Even Scizor’s muscles are made of metal.

Shield

Scizor Weakness

Excellent

Scizor is weak to Fire-type moves. Watch out for Fire attacks, those deal 4x damage. On the flip side, it's immune to Poison-type moves entirely. It resists 8 types, so it can switch into a lot of moves safely. With 70 HP and balanced defenses, Scizor can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.

  2. Scizor
    Step 2Scizor
  • Scizor looks average on paper at 500 BST. But Technician is why it sees play — build around that and it pulls its weight. A-Tier wallbreaker on our tier list.

  • Scizor's biggest threats include Charizard (Fire), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Charizard is the most dangerous since Fire moves deal 4x damage. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • Scyther evolves into Scizor while holding a Metal Coat. Scizor is the final evolution in a 3-stage line starting from Scyther. At 500 BST, it's got solid stats to work with.

  • Scizor gets Technician, Swarm, and Light Metal. But Technician is the one that matters — it's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that. On wall sets, Technician pairs with Scizor's base 100 Defense to absorb physical hits on the switch.

  • Scizor is a physical attacker with base 130 Attack. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. But the speed tells the real story — at base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. Fits the wallbreaker role.

  • Scizor appears in 19 games, including Gold & Silver, Crystal, and Ruby & Sapphire.

Available since Gold & Silver, Scizor appears in 19 games spanning 8 generations. Beyond its original form, it gained a Mega form in Generation 7.
