Stats & Training
Nothing fancy in Scizor's spread. It leans physical with Attack out front. And you'll get 2 Attack EVs per KO for it. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
It swings its eye-patterned pincers up to scare its foes. This makes it look like it has three heads.
Its wings are not used for flying. They are flapped at high speed to adjust its body temperature.
Scizor Weakness
Scizor is weak to Fire. Watch out for Fire attacks, those deal 4x damage. On the flip side, it's immune to Poison-type moves entirely. It resists 9 types, so it can switch into a lot of moves safely. With 70 HP and balanced defenses, Scizor can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Fire |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Normal, Ice, Psychic, Bug, Ghost, Dragon, Dark, Steel |
| 0.25x (Resist) | Grass |
| 0x (Immune) | Poison |
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)
In HeartGold & SoulSilver, Aerodactyl's Stone Edge hits Scizor for 41-48%.

HeartGold & SoulSilver Evolution
Scyther's line splits into 2 evolutions, and Scizor is the trade route. Each sibling form needs a different method to obtain. Breed through Scyther to get eggs. Scizor and Kleavor share the same 500 total stats, but they're distributed differently. Check the comparison below to see where each one specializes. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Breed with Scizor to get Scyther eggs easily using 48 partners from the Bug egg group. Notable egg moves include Baton Pass, Bug Buzz, Counter and 7 more.
HeartGold & SoulSilver Scizor Best Moveset
Prediction matters here. Choice Band means Scizor can't change moves after clicking, but the payoff is raw power at the cost of move flexibility. Max HP and Attack EVs with Technician back that up. Fighting and Dark coverage prevents free switches.

Egg moves make a real difference. Scizor gets Baton Pass and Bug Buzz exclusively through breeding, filling gaps that TMs and level-up can't touch. Normal and Dark coverage and more rounds out the picture alongside Bug Buzz and X-Scissor.

Scizor Guide
In HeartGold & SoulSilver, Scizor looks average on paper at 500 BST. But Technician is why it sees play. Build around that and it pulls its weight. A-Tier wallbreaker on our tier list. Bullet Punch with Choice Band is the standard set.
Mega Evolution isn't available in HeartGold & SoulSilver, but Scizor does have a Mega form in Gen 6-7 games (X/Y, ORAS, Sun/Moon). Mega Scizor hits 600 BST.
Scizor gets Technician, Swarm, and Light Metal. But Technician is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that. On wall sets, Technician pairs with Scizor's base 100 Defense to absorb physical hits on the switch.
Scizor is a physical attacker with base 130 Attack. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. At base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. Fits the wallbreaker role.
Game Availability
Available since Gold & Silver, Scizor appears in 19 games spanning 9 generations. Beyond its original form, it gained a Mega form in Generation 7.
