Braixen sits in the middle of its evolution line — stronger than Fennekin but not yet at full power. Most trainers push through to Delphox as fast as possible. Known as the Fox Pokemon. Its damage comes from the special side.

Braixen's spread isn't flashy. Sp. Atk leads, Defense trails, 1 stats clear the bar. Tough to catch and worth 2 Sp. Atk EVs, on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.

Breeding's the move. Heat Wave and Hypnosis give Braixen options it can't learn any other way, and Normal and Psychic coverage and more already covers a decent range on top of Overheat and Fire Blast. The egg moves push it further.

No wild encounters for Braixen. The 2-stage line runs through Fennekin, which you can catch but it's a rare spawn from the locations below. Evolve at level 16 once you've got the levels.

How to Obtain Braixen in X & Y

The path to Braixen starts with Fennekin at Lv. 5+ via gift encounters. 1 catchable stage total, with locations listed for each one below.

  2. Braixen
    Step 2Braixen
  • Braixen isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Delphox to unlock its full potential. At 409 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.

  • Braixen's biggest threats include Greninja (Water), Rhydon (Ground), and Aerodactyl (Rock), all carrying super-effective STAB moves.

  • Fennekin evolves into Braixen at level 16. Braixen evolves into Delphox at level 36. Braixen is a middle-stage evolution in the Fennekin line.

  • Blaze is the go-to ability for Braixen. It strengthens fire moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less. Its hidden ability Magician can work in specific setups.

  • Braixen fills the support role. It's leaning toward the special side (base 90 Sp. Atk). Base 73 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many.

  • Braixen appears in 6 games, including X & Y, Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, and Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon.

Introduced in X & Y, Braixen has appeared in 6 games across 4 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
