How to Get Scizor in Legends: Z-A
The chain to Scizor requires a trade evolution through a trade. Catch Scyther at moderate rates and level through the stages, but line up the trade first. The rest of the chain runs on levels alone.

Scizor Weakness
Scizor is weak to Fire. Watch out for Fire attacks, those deal 4x damage. On the flip side, it's immune to Poison-type moves entirely. It resists 8 types, so it can switch into a lot of moves safely. Scizor's physical bulk (base 140 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.

Scizor Evolutions
Scyther's line splits into 2 evolutions, and Scizor is the trade route. Each sibling form needs a different method to obtain. Breed through Scyther to get eggs. Scizor edges out Kleavor by 100 total stats (600 vs 500). Defense is where most of the advantage lives. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.

Held ItemScizorite activates AbilityTechnician boosting weaker moves by 50%, pushing Attack to 150 with 140 Defense. Bug/Steel typing resists 8 types with one weakness to Fire. The moveset fires Technician-boosted priority and multi-hit moves behind the best defensive typing in the game.

Moves List
Most of Scizor's flexibility comes from TMs. Same-type output runs through Steel Beam and Bug Buzz, but Normal and Flying and the rest of the TM pool push it from predictable to genuinely threatening.

Scizor Legends: Z-A Guide
In the Legends: Z-A meta, Scizor already has 600 BST going for it, and Technician pushes the competitive value even higher. A-Tier wallbreaker on our tier list. Bullet Punch with Choice Band is the standard set.
Mega Evolution isn't available in Legends: Z-A, but Scizor does have a Mega form in Gen 6-7 games (X/Y, ORAS, Sun/Moon). Mega Scizor hits 700 BST.
In Legends: Z-A, Scizor's biggest threats include Charizard (Fire), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Charizard is the most dangerous since Fire moves deal 4x damage. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. Scizor has enough bulk to absorb a hit, but don't push the matchup. Pivot to a teammate that resists.
Scizor is obtained by trade-evolving Scyther. Catch or evolve a Scyther first, then trade. Trade needs a Game Boy Advance link cable and a second GBA running another Gen 3 game (FireRed, LeafGreen, Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald). Trade Scyther to a friend, then have them trade it back. The 2026 Switch re-release supports the same trade through local wireless on the Pokemon Center 2F Wireless Club, with no cables required. The Metal Coat must be held during the trade. Bring one over from a sibling Gen 3 game if needed.
Scizor gets Technician. But Technician is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that. On wall sets, Technician pairs with Scizor's base 140 Defense to absorb physical hits on the switch.
Game Availability
Available since Gold & Silver, Scizor appears in 19 games spanning 9 generations. Beyond its original form, it gained a Mega form in Generation 6.
