Is Metagross Good in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Playthrough?
600 BST Steel/Psychic. Molayne leads his E4 with Metagross, and for good reason. Massive Attack and Defense with a typing that resists 10 types. The level 45 evolution from Metang is late, but Metagross dominates the E4 and Title Defense the moment it arrives. One of the strongest non-legendary Pokemon in the game.

Metagross Weakness
Metagross is weak to Fire, Ground, Ghost, and Dark. On the flip side, it's immune to Poison-type moves entirely. With 9 resistances, the defensive profile is strong. Metagross's physical bulk (base 150 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.

Metagross Evolutions
End of the line. Metagross caps a three-stage chain that started at Beldum. Breeding produces the base form, and eggs are takes forever to hatch. Attack grew the most through evolution (+90 over Beldum), and Metagross peaks at 700 total stats. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Metagross is genderless — breed with Ditto to produce Beldum eggs. Part of the Mineral egg group.

Mega Metagross gains AbilityTough Claws boosting contact moves by 30%% at 145 Attack and 110 Speed, transforming from a slow tank into one of the fastest physical threats available. Metagross Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Guide
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Tough Claws changes the entire equation for Metagross. The 700 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked B-Tier as a sweeper. Earthquake with Assault Vest is the standard set.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Metagross can Mega Evolve into Mega Metagross. That's 800 BST, up from 700. The stat redistribution often changes its best role. Mega Stone required, one per battle.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Metagross's biggest threats include Arcanine (Fire), Swampert (Ground), and Gengar (Ghost), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Dark-type attackers are also a problem. Metagross has enough bulk to absorb a hit, but don't push the matchup. Pivot to a teammate that resists.
Tough Claws is what you want on Metagross. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. With base 110 Speed, Tough Claws gives Metagross an edge before opponents can react.
Base 110 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. On offense, Metagross is a physical attacker with base 145 Attack. Defensively? Tanky enough to absorb a few hits. Best used as a sweeper.
Game Availability
