While most trainers evolve Salandit into Salazzle immediately, the unevolved form has a niche with Eviolite boosting its defenses. Watch the Ground matchup though — quadruple damage means one hit can end it. Watch the Ground matchup though — quadruple damage means one hit can end it.

Speed and Sp. Atk carry most of Salandit's stat budget. Defense's the obvious dump stat. Common in the wild and yields 1 Speed EV. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.

The males will do whatever the females tell them. They give the females most of their food. Due to malnutrition, the males can’t evolve.

Ultra Sun

It weakens opponents and sends them reeling with its poisonous gas. Salandit doesn’t deal well with Spinda, since it’s always reeling.

Without breeding, Salandit misses out on Belch and Fake Out. That's 5 egg moves adding depth that the base kit lacks. STAB comes from Overheat and Belch, with Normal and Dragon coverage and more rounding things out.

  • Salandit is meant to evolve into Salazzle. At 320 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.

  • Watch for Rhydon (Ground), Swampert (Water), and Gardevoir (Psychic) when using Salandit. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Rhydon is the most dangerous since Ground moves deal 4x damage. Rock-type attackers are also a problem.

  • Salandit evolves into Salazzle at level 33. Salandit is the base form of this evolutionary line.

  • Corrosion this Pokémon can inflict poison on Poison and Steel Pokémon — that's the one you want on Salandit. Oblivious is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.

  • Base 77 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Salandit is a special attacker with base 71 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Fragile — can't afford to take many hits.

  • Salandit can be found in Scarlet & Violet, Sword & Shield, Sun & Moon, and Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon.

Salandit joined the series in Sun & Moon and has been available in 4 titles so far. With 3 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
