Amoonguss's spread is anchored by HP, with balanced defenses backing it up. Speed is the clear weak point. Worth 2 HP EVs per KO, and the medium-fast 1M XP curve keeps leveling painless.
Be wary of the poisonous spores it releases. Mushrooms resembling Amoonguss’s caps will grow out of anywhere the spores touch.
Amoonguss mimics Poké Balls. It is not yet clear whether this mimicry is effective against other Pokémon.
Amoonguss's Grass/Poison typing leaves it vulnerable to Fire, Ice, Flying, and Psychic. It resists 5 types, giving it decent defensive coverage.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fire, Ice, Flying, Psychic |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Water, Electric, Fighting, Fairy |

Amoonguss is the evolved form of Foongus. Breeding produces Foongus eggs, and they're average hatch time. Evolving from Foongus gave Amoonguss the biggest boost in HP (+45), bringing the total to 464 stats. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Regenerator isn't flashy, but it matters. Combined with Rocky Helmet for chip damage on every physical hit received and spread EVs, Amoonguss fills the defensive wall slot reliably. Bold nature finishes the spread.

Without TMs, Amoonguss's movepool is bare bones. With them, you get Ghost and Normal coverage and more on top of Leaf Storm and Solar Beam for STAB. The natural kit handles basics, but TMs are doing the real work.

Tutor Moves
Amoonguss develops a solid moveset just through leveling. Solar Beam and Leaf Storm show up naturally, and the progression handles both STAB and utility without leaning on TMs for the core attacks.
The natural movepool does the job, but Defense Curl and Poison Powder from the egg pool give Amoonguss something extra.

Step 2Amoonguss ✓
Amoonguss isn't available in the wild in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon. Start by transferring Foongus from Black, Black 2, or Sword. The evolution path from Foongus to Amoonguss is covered in the steps below.
Don't let Amoonguss's 464 base stat total fool you. Regenerator is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it A-Tier as a trick room.
Run Regenerator on Amoonguss. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Amoonguss also gets Effect Spore, but they don't compare.
Amoonguss fills the trick room role. It's leaning toward the physical side (base 85 Attack). Base 30 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
Amoonguss has answers, but so do you. Super-effective STAB from faster Pokemon is the simplest answer. Fire, Ice, and Flying-type attackers hit hardest.
Introduced in Black & White, Amoonguss has appeared in 9 games across 6 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
