Foongus doesn't have much going for it on its own — the stats just aren't there. The payoff is Amoonguss, and getting there is worth the grind. Part of the Gen 5 roster. Only weak to Fire, Ice, Flying, and Psychic.
Nothing fancy in Foongus's spread. It leans mixed with HP out front. And you'll get 1 HP EV per KO for it. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
It lures Pokémon with its pattern that looks just like a Poké Ball then releases poison spores.
Foongus Weakness
VulnerableType-wise, Foongus takes extra damage from Fire, Ice, Flying, and Psychic. The Grass/Poison typing picks up 4 resistances to work with.
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)
Foongus is the base form in a two-stage line leading to Amoonguss. Check the evolution method below. No compatible partners for breeding via one egg group. Eggs are average hatch time. Evolving adds up to 170 stat points total.
How to Evolve
Breed Foongus easily from the Plant egg group. Pass egg moves like Body Slam, Defense Curl, Endure and 5 more to offspring.

Breeding's the move. Body Slam and Defense Curl give Foongus options it can't learn any other way, and Ghost and Normal coverage and more already covers a decent range on top of Solar Beam and Energy Ball.

Foongus evolves into Amoonguss at level 39. Foongus is the base form of this evolutionary line.
Foongus gets Regenerator and Effect Spore. But Regenerator is the one that matters — it's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.
Foongus is a special attacker with base 55 Sp. Atk. Fragile — can't afford to take many hits, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 15 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go.
Foongus appears in 9 games, including Black & White, Black 2 & White 2, and X & Y.
Since Black & White, Foongus has been obtainable in 9 games. A Generation 5 debut means a shorter history, but Foongus has appeared steadily across every generation since.
