Stats & Training
Gligar's spread isn't flashy. Defense leads, Sp. Atk trails, 2 stats clear the bar. Moderately hard to find and worth 1 Defense EV, on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.

Gligar Weakness
Gligar's Ground/Flying typing leaves it vulnerable to Ice and Water. Ice hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Electric and Ground-type attacks completely. Gligar's physical bulk (base 105 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Ice |
| 2x (Weak) | Water |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fighting, Poison, Bug |
| 0x (Immune) | Electric, Ground |
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)

Black 2 & White 2 Evolution
Evolving Gligar into Gliscor takes a held item. It's not a simple level-up, so check the chain details below. The evolved forms gain up to 80 total stats over Gligar. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Breed Gligar easily with 65 breeding partners from the Bug egg group. Pass egg moves like Agility, Baton Pass, Counter and 11 more to offspring.
Black 2 & White 2 Gligar Best Moveset
max HP and Defense EVs and Impish nature turn Gligar into a wall that doesn't fold easily. Eviolite brings a bulk boost that only works before full evolution for the long game, and Roost handles sustain. Immunity fills in the gaps.

Moves
The natural movepool does the job, but Agility and Baton Pass from the egg pool give Gligar something extra. Pair those with Earthquake and Earth Power for STAB and coverage across 9 types for reach, and the kit fills out nicely.

Black 2 & White 2 Gligar Locations

Best Locations to Catch Gligar in Black 2 & White 2
Before you go hunting for Gligar, check which of the 12 spots belong to your version. Black 2 and White 2 each have different walking encounters at Lv. 37-65.
Gligar Guide
In Black 2 & White 2, Gligar isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Gliscor to unlock its full potential. At 430 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.
Hyper Cutter prevents Attack from being lowered by other Pokémon. That's the one you want on Gligar. Immunity is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses. Sand Veil works too if your team needs something different.
In Black 2 & White 2, Gligar fills the support role. It's a physical attacker with base 75 Attack. Base 85 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
In Black 2 & White 2, Gligar does the job early-game if you need a Ground/Flying type on your team. Evolve it into Gliscor before the later gyms and it holds up fine through the story.
Game Availability
Gligar has been available in 17 games since Gold & Silver, though obtaining it requires an item-based evolution. This extra step makes it less common than Pokemon found through standard wild encounters.
