Foongus doesn't have much going for it on its own — the stats just aren't there. The payoff is Amoonguss, and getting there is worth the grind. Part of the Gen 5 roster. Only weak to Fire, Ice, Flying, and Psychic.

Nothing fancy in Foongus's spread. It leans mixed with HP out front. And you'll get 1 HP EV per KO for it. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.

There is a theory that the developer of the modern-day Poké Ball really liked Foongus, but this has not been confirmed.

Scarlet

This Pokémon prefers damp places. It spurts out poison spores to repel approaching enemies.

Foongus's built to absorb hits. Bold nature leans into physical wall duty, Eviolite gives it a bulk boost that only works before full evolution, and Synthesis handles sustain. Regenerator and a spread EV build EVs tie the defensive profile together.

The level-up pool tells the story here. Foongus learns Solar Beam and Leaf Storm naturally, plus enough variety that TMs feel like bonuses. Rock and Normal coverage and more extends the reach beyond that.

Foongus doesn't appear in Legends: Z-A. Transfer it from Black, Black 2, or Sword to add it to your collection. Check the source games below for encounter details.

Foongus is not available as a wild encounter in this game.

Also found in:

  • At 294 BST, Foongus is firmly in pre-evolution territory. Evolve it into Amoonguss before bringing it to any serious fight.

  • Foongus's biggest threats include Charizard (Fire), Cloyster (Ice), and Salamence (Flying), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Psychic-type attackers are also a problem. At base 15 Speed, Foongus won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • Foongus evolves into Amoonguss at level 39. Foongus is the base form of this evolutionary line.

  • Foongus gets Regenerator and Effect Spore. But Regenerator is the one that matters — it's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.

  • Foongus is a special attacker with base 55 Sp. Atk. Fragile — can't afford to take many hits, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 15 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go.

  • Foongus appears in 9 games, including Black & White, Black 2 & White 2, and X & Y.

Since Black & White, Foongus has been obtainable in 9 games. A Generation 5 debut means a shorter history, but Foongus has appeared steadily across every generation since.
