Flash Fire absorbs Fire moves and powers up its own, adding real value on top of Armarouge's already solid stats. Fire/Psychic typing means 5 type weaknesses to keep in mind. One of the newer additions from Gen 9.

Armarouge's spread isn't flashy. Sp. Atk leads, Attack trails, 4 stats clear the bar. Very hard to catch and worth 2 Sp. Atk EVs, on a slow 1.25M XP grind.

The TM pool is where it gets interesting. Coverage across 10 types means almost nothing walls Armarouge cleanly, with Overheat and Armor Cannon anchoring the STAB side. Matchup flexibility isn't a problem.

Armarouge isn't available in the wild in Legends: Z-A. Start by transferring Charcadet from Scarlet. The evolution path from Charcadet to Armarouge is covered in the steps below.

How to Obtain Armarouge in Legends: Z-A

  1. Charcadet
    Step 1Obtain Charcadet

    Catch in the wild in:

Then trade to Legends: Z-A to continue the evolution chain.

  2. Armarouge
    Step 2Armarouge
  • Don't let Armarouge's 525 base stat total fool you. Flash Fire is what makes it tick — it punches way above its weight class. We rate it A-Tier as a wallbreaker.

  • Armarouge's biggest threats include Gyarados (Water), Rhydon (Ground), and Tyranitar (Rock), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Ghost and Dark-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Charcadet evolves into Armarouge using a Auspicious Armor. Armarouge is the final evolution in a 3-stage line starting from Charcadet. At 525 BST, it's got solid stats to work with.

  • Run Flash Fire on Armarouge. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Armarouge also gets Weak Armor, but they don't compare. On wall sets, Flash Fire pairs with Armarouge's base 100 Defense to absorb physical hits on the switch.

  • Armarouge fills the wallbreaker role. It's a special attacker with base 125 Sp. Atk. Base 75 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • Armarouge can be found in Legends: Z-A and Scarlet & Violet.

Introduced in Scarlet & Violet, Armarouge has appeared in 2 games across 1 generation. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
