Drizzle
Kyogre doesn't ask for rain, it brings it. Drizzle summons a downpour the moment the sea titan surfaces, boosting Water attacks while smothering Fire strategies before they even start. In the Hoenn remakes, where Primal Kyogre headlines the entire story, this ability is the weather system's beating heart.

Speed Boost
The remakes made Blaziken's hidden ability accessible, and Speed Boost on a fully evolved starter is a different animal than on a bug. An automatic Speed climb every turn stacks onto real attacking power, which is why this particular combination spent years banned from standard play.

Huge Power
Azumarill is the series' favorite math trick. Huge Power doubles its Attack, converting a cheerful blue rabbit into one of the hardest hitters in Hoenn. The stat screen lies. The damage numbers do not.

How Abilities Work in Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire
Two abilities switch the weather off
The Primal weathers shut down entire attack types, and Cloud Nine or Air Lock is the counterplay: while the user stands on the field, the weather's effects simply stop. One niche passive turns the scariest endgame mechanic into a fair fight.
Eastern Hoenn is rain country
The routes near Fortree rain on their own schedule, and rain abilities treat them as home turf: Swift Swim doubles Speed the moment drops fall. Weather is terrain in this region, not just a battle tool.
New in Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire
ORAS crowns Gen 6 with abilities built for its own legends, weather so strong it stops being weather and becomes law. A short roster, but it contains some of the most dramatic passives ever attached to a Pokémon.
Pokémon Abilities: Frequently Asked
What are the Primal abilities in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire?
Primal Kyogre carries Primordial Sea, heavy rain that makes ordinary Fire attacks fail outright. Primal Groudon answers with Desolate Land, extreme sunlight that evaporates Water attacks. Neither state can be overwritten by normal weather setters, so these two do not just bend the battlefield, they own it.
What does Delta Stream do for Mega Rayquaza?
It generates strong winds that strip away the usual Flying type weaknesses, so Ice, Rock, and Electric hits land at neutral power. Mega Rayquaza is also unique in needing no Mega Stone, it Mega Evolves just by knowing Dragon Ascent, which promptly got it restricted beyond even other legendaries in competitive play.
How does the DexNav help me hunt specific abilities?
The DexNav flags rustling patches and previews the hiding Pokémon before you commit. As your search level for a species climbs, detected Pokémon can turn up with egg moves, better potential, and crucially their Hidden Ability, making ORAS one of the most comfortable games ever made for targeted ability hunting.
Do the new ORAS Mega Evolutions bring notable abilities?
Yes, the new stones lean hard on ability identity. Mega Salamence takes Aerilate, converting Normal moves into Flying type power. Mega Metagross runs Tough Claws, Mega Altaria becomes a Dragon and Fairy hybrid with Pixilate, and Mega Lopunny uses Scrappy to hit Ghosts with Fighting moves.
Is anything different about regular abilities compared to X and Y?
The underlying pool is the same Generation 6 set, and tools like the Ability Capsule return through the Battle Maison. The additions sit at the top end, Primal Reversion and the new Mega forms, plus the DexNav as a farming method. Everyday ability mechanics behave exactly as Kalos players expect.
