Stats & Training
Sp. Def leads and Attack gets almost nothing. That's Mantine's stat line in a nutshell. 2 stats sit in respectable range, but the spread is brutal. Very hard to catch and yields 2 Sp. Def stat exp.
As it majestically swims, it doesn’t care if REMORAID attach to it for scavenging its leftovers.
Swimming freely in open seas, it may fly out of the water and over the waves if it builds up enough speed.
Mantine Weakness
Type-wise, Mantine takes extra damage from Electric and Rock. Watch out for Electric attacks, those deal 4x damage. Ground moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. 5 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Mantine's special bulk (base 140 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Electric |
| 2x (Weak) | Rock |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Water, Fighting, Bug, Steel |
| 0x (Immune) | Ground |
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move
- Special stat split into Sp.Atk and Sp.Def

Mantine Guide
For Gold & Silver, we rate Mantine C-Tier: a niche pick in Gold & Silver's meta. At 465 BST, the stats are spread pretty evenly. Swagger with Leftovers is the standard set.
In Gold & Silver, Mantine's biggest threats include Jolteon (Electric) and Aerodactyl (Rock), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Jolteon is the most dangerous since Electric moves deal 4x damage. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.
Base 70 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Mantine is a mixed attacker with base 40 Attack and 80 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.
For Gold & Silver, the core moveset is Swagger, Hiddenpowerground, Surf, and Ice Beam. Swagger leads at 20% usage. Surf provides reliable STAB damage.
In Gold & Silver, the best way to handle Mantine: Super-effective STAB from faster Pokemon is the simplest answer. Electric and Rock-type attackers hit hardest.
