Stats & Training
Sp. Def leads and Attack gets almost nothing. That's Mantine's stat line in a nutshell. 2 stats sit in respectable range, but the spread is brutal. Very hard to catch and yields 2 Sp. Def EVs.
If it builds up enough speed swimming, it can fly over 300 feet out of the water from the surface of the ocean.

Mantine Weakness
Type-wise, Mantine takes extra damage from Electric and Rock. Watch out for Electric attacks, those deal 4x damage. Ground moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. 5 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Water Absorb grants an additional Water immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Mantine's special bulk (base 140 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Electric |
| 2x (Weak) | Rock |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Water, Fighting, Bug, Steel |
| 0x (Immune) | Ground |

Mantine Guide
In Black 2 & White 2, Swift Swim changes the entire equation for Mantine. The 465 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier. Mirrorcoat with Chestoberry is the standard set.
In Black 2 & White 2, Mantine's biggest threats include Jolteon (Electric) and Aerodactyl (Rock), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Jolteon is the most dangerous since Electric moves deal 4x damage. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.
Swift Swim is what you want on Mantine. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Water Absorb, Water Veil) work on paper but Swift Swim is what makes Mantine worth using.
Base 70 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Mantine is a special attacker with base 80 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.
For Black 2 & White 2, the core moveset is Mirrorcoat, Scald, Ice Beam, and Rest. Mirrorcoat leads at 16% usage. Scald provides reliable STAB damage.
