Gold & Silver Tin Tower

Ecruteak's towering pagoda, where Ho-Oh is said to perch at the very top. In Gold, raising the Rainbow Wing calls the rainbow bird down to battle.

Tin Tower is in Johto, with Ecruteak City to the south. In the story it comes after Radio Tower and before Route 44.

One-way ramps and warp panels make Tin Tower the tallest climb in Johto, ten floors that only go up if you step the panels in the right order toward the roof.

Pokemon Encounters

Ho-Oh waits at the summit for anyone holding the Rainbow Wing, the legendary payoff of the entire climb. Below, Gastly haunts the floors at 80 percent after dark and thins out to Rattata by day.

Tin Tower Guide

  • It depends which game you're playing. In Gold, Ho-Oh waits at level 40 and you can reach it before the Elite Four, still carrying Sacred Fire. In Silver it's a level 70 catch saved for the post-game instead. Either way you need the Rainbow Wing before the top floor opens.
