Is Snorlax Good in FireRed & LeafGreen Playthrough?

Two block the path and both can join your team. AbilityImmunity prevents all poison, or AbilityThick Fat halves Fire and Ice damage. Either ability is excellent. The HP and Special Defense absorb nearly anything on the special side. Snorlax handles Agatha, contributes through the E4, and Blue can't threaten it easily. One of the best Pokemon in the remake.

How to Get Snorlax in FireRed & LeafGreen

Two Snorlax block paths at level 30 in both versions. Wake them with the Poke Flute. Catch rate of 25 makes them tougher than most wild Pokemon, and KO'd Snorlax don't respawn.

Wild Snorlax may be holding when caught:

Chesto Berry (always) When held by a Pokemon, it will be used in battle to wake up.

Snorlax Weakness

Snorlax's Normal typing leaves it vulnerable to Fighting. It shrugs off Ghost-type attacks completely. Thick Fat reduces Fire/Ice damage, further improving the defensive spread. Snorlax's special bulk (base 110 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Breadth over depth defines this movepool. Snorlax won't stack one type's damage ceiling, but coverage across 10 types means it always has an effective option. Hyper Beam and Double-Edge anchor the STAB core.

Pokedex Entry

It is not satisfied unless it eats over 880 pounds of food every day. When it is done eating, it goes promptly to sleep.

Very lazy. Just eats and sleeps. As its rotund bulk builds, it becomes steadily more slothful.
