Under Trick Room, Sunflora's terrible Speed becomes its best asset — it 'outspeeds' nearly everything when turns are reversed. And it hits hard enough to make that matter. 5 type weaknesses to keep in mind. Known as the Sun Pokemon.

Sunflora's spread isn't flashy. Sp. Atk leads, Speed trails, 2 stats clear the bar. Common in the wild and worth 2 Sp. Atk EVs, on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.

Sunflora Weakness

Fragile

Sunflora is weak to Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, and Bug-type moves. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Sunflora's special bulk (base 85 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Sunflora doesn't evolve through normal leveling. You'll need an evolution item to get here from Sunkern's line. Breed this form to get Sunkern eggs (average hatch time). Evolving from Sunkern gave Sunflora the biggest boost in Sp.Atk (+75), bringing the total to 425 stats.

Sunflora runs a standard setup attacker set. A nature nature with flexible EVs EVs shapes the build, while Leftovers brings passive recovery each turn. An ability supports the kit from the background.

TMs define Sunflora's movepool. The natural moves cover basics with Petal Dance and Solar Beam, but the real versatility comes from technical machines giving it Normal and Poison coverage. That's where the options open up.

You're catching Sunkern first, not Sunflora. Sunkern appears at solid rates in the encounters below. The step cards map the full 2-stage line with evolution methods between each stage.

  2. Sunflora
    Step 2Sunflora
  • Don't let Sunflora's 425 base stat total fool you. Chlorophyll is what makes it tick — it punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as a setup sweeper.

  • Sunflora's biggest threats include Charizard (Fire), Cloyster (Ice), and Crobat (Poison), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Flying and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. At base 30 Speed, Sunflora won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • Sunkern evolves into Sunflora using a Sun Stone. Sunflora is the fully evolved form. It sits at 425 BST in its evolved form.

  • Sunflora fills the setup sweeper role. It's leaning toward the special side (base 105 Sp. Atk). Base 30 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • Sunflora appears in 16 games, including Gold & Silver, Crystal, and Ruby & Sapphire.

Sunflora has been available in 16 games since Gold & Silver, though obtaining it requires an item-based evolution. This extra step makes it less common than Pokemon found through standard wild encounters.
