Free switch-ins on Poison moves make Probopass useful in any team that needs that coverage. Only 3 weaknesses keeps it safe in most matchups. Part of the Gen 4 roster. It works well under Trick Room.
The stat bars tell the story: Sp. Def carries everything and Speed's dead weight. But this Compass Pokemon still yields 3 Defense and Sp. Def EVs per fight on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
Its entire body exudes strong magnetism. Probopass controls three small units called Mini-Noses.
Probopass Weakness
GoodProbopass is weak to Fighting, Ground, and Water-type moves. Watch out for Fighting and Ground attacks, those deal 4x damage. On the flip side, it's immune to Poison-type moves entirely. It resists 8 types, so it can switch into a lot of moves safely. Probopass's overall bulk (60/145/150) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.
Probopass evolved from Nosepass's chain using an evolution item. It's a non-standard trigger, so check the details below. Breed this form to get Nosepass eggs (average hatch time). The evolution from Nosepass pushed Probopass to 525 total stats. Sp.Def saw the largest single gain at +60.
How to Evolve
Breed with Probopass to get Nosepass eggs easily from the Mineral egg group. Notable egg moves include Block, Double-Edge, Rollout and 1 more.
Probopass's job is getting Stealth Rock up and staying on the field. Custapberry provides extra utility, Sturdy helps it stick around, and max HP and Sp. Def EVs prioritize longevity.

Egg moves make a real difference. Probopass gets Block and Double-Edge exclusively through breeding, filling gaps that TMs and level-up can't touch. Normal and Electric coverage and more rounds out the picture alongside Stone Edge and Power Gem.

Probopass doesn't appear wild. Catch Nosepass instead, it shows up at solid rates. Evolve it through a special method to get Probopass. The 2-stage line is mapped in the step cards below.

Step 2Probopass ✓
Probopass works as a support with 525 BST behind it. B-Tier on our list — a solid choice for the right team. That 150 base Sp. Def does the heavy lifting.
Probopass's biggest threats include Machamp (Fighting), Golem (Ground), and Gyarados (Water), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Machamp is the most dangerous since Fighting moves deal 4x damage. At base 40 Speed, Probopass won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Nosepass evolves into Probopass using a Thunder Stone. Probopass is the fully evolved form. At 525 BST, it's got solid stats to work with.
Sturdy is the go-to ability for Probopass. It prevents being KOed from full HP, leaving 1 HP instead. Its hidden ability Sand Force can work in specific setups. Magnet Pull is the other option — pick based on what your team needs.
Probopass is leaning toward the special side (base 75 Sp. Atk). Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 40 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. Fits the support role.
Probopass appears in 12 games, including Platinum, HeartGold & SoulSilver, and Diamond & Pearl.
Since Diamond & Pearl, Probopass has been in 12 games. Requiring an item-based evolution to obtain means it's consistently available but requires more effort than simply catching it in the wild.
