How to access additional Pokemon in Emerald

Emerald runs the same 202-entry Hoenn dex as Ruby and Sapphire, but the postgame goes further. The Battle Frontier opens after beating Champion Wallace, and both Groudon and Kyogre become catchable in new caves. The Safari Zone picks up extra areas with wild encounters that RS doesn't have.

Move tutors hand out coverage moves like Thunderpunch and Ice Punch that you can't get in Ruby or Sapphire. For the full 386, you'll still need FireRed, LeafGreen, or the GameCube titles to cover species outside Hoenn.
