While most trainers evolve Mienfoo into Mienshao immediately, the unevolved form has a niche with Eviolite boosting its defenses. Only weak to Flying, Psychic, and Fairy. Known as the Martial Arts Pokemon. The stat spread favors raw physical power.

The stat budget goes to damage. Attack and Speed carry the offense, HP doesn't even come close. A Martial Arts Pokemon on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve, worth 1 Attack EV per KO.

The 50% bulk from Eviolite is no joke. Mienfoo takes hits that fully evolved Pokemon can't, especially with a spread EV build EVs pushing the fast physical side. High Jump Kick gives it offensive presence.

You'll want to breed for Feint and Focus Punch on Mienfoo. These egg moves aren't just nice to have. Combined with STAB from Focus Punch and High Jump Kick, they expand what Mienfoo can actually threaten in practice.

  • Mienfoo is meant to evolve into Mienshao. At 350 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.

  • Watch for Braviary (Flying), Alakazam (Psychic), and Clefable (Fairy) when using Mienfoo. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB.

  • Mienfoo evolves into Mienshao at level 50. Mienfoo is the base form of this evolutionary line.

  • Regenerator is what you want on Mienfoo. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Inner Focus, Reckless) work on paper but Regenerator is what makes Mienfoo worth using.

  • At base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Mienfoo is a physical attacker with base 85 Attack. Defensively? Fragile — can't afford to take many hits.

  • Mienfoo appears in 8 games, including Black & White, Black 2 & White 2, and X & Y.

Mienfoo joined the series in Black & White and has been available in 8 titles so far. With 5 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
