Disguise absorbs one hit for free before its disguise breaks, giving Mimikyu a free turn to set up or attack. That guaranteed action makes it one of the better setup options in any format it's legal in. Ghost/Fairy typing helps too.

Sp. Def and Speed carry most of Mimikyu's stat budget. Sp. Atk's the obvious dump stat. Tough to catch and yields 2 Sp. Def EVs. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.

It wears a rag fashioned into a Pikachu costume in an effort to look less scary. Unfortunately, the costume only makes it creepier.

Sword

There was a scientist who peeked under Mimikyu’s old rag in the name of research. The scientist died of a mysterious disease.

Shield

Mimikyu Weakness

Excellent

Type-wise, Mimikyu takes extra damage from Ghost and Steel. Normal, Fighting, and Dragon moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. Mimikyu's special bulk (base 105 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

One boost from Swords Dance and Mimikyu gets dangerous fast. The Jolly nature targets max Attack and Speed, and Disguise backs the whole approach. Play Rough and the remaining moves handle most of what's left standing.

The egg pool carries weight here. Curse and Destiny Bond aren't available any other way for Mimikyu, and they meaningfully change what it threatens. Stack those on top of Play Rough and Phantom Force for solid options.

  • Disguise changes the entire equation for Mimikyu. The 476 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked B-Tier.

  • Mimikyu's biggest threats include Chandelure (Ghost) and Aegislash (Steel), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • Mimikyu doesn't evolve and has no evolutionary line. It's a Ghost/Fairy-type Pokemon with a 476 base stat total.

  • Disguise is what you want on Mimikyu. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind.

  • Base 96 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Mimikyu is a physical attacker with base 90 Attack. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • Mimikyu can be found in Legends: Z-A, Scarlet & Violet, Sword & Shield, Sun & Moon, and Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon.

Mimikyu joined the series in Sun & Moon and has been available in 5 titles so far. With 3 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
