Mid-stage Pokemon like Marshtomp rarely see competitive play outside of special formats. It's a waypoint on the road to Swampert, which is where the real potential kicks in. Known as the Mud Fish Pokemon. Can go either physical or special depending on the set.
Attack and HP carry most of Marshtomp's stat budget. Speed's the obvious dump stat. Tough to catch and yields 2 Attack EVs. Follows a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
Its sturdy legs give it sure footing, even in mud. It burrows into dirt to sleep.
Marshtomp Weakness
GoodMarshtomp's Water/Ground typing leaves it vulnerable to Grass moves. Grass hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Electric-type attacks completely. 4 resistances help offset the weaknesses.
Partway through Mudkip's chain. Marshtomp still has another evolution ahead before reaching Swampert. For breeding, average hatch time with plenty of partners via two egg groups. So far, HP got the biggest boost (+20 from Mudkip). The final form adds another 130 stats on top.

Breed with Marshtomp to get Mudkip eggs easily using 57 partners from the Monster and Water1 egg groups.
Marshtomp hasn't fully evolved, but Eviolite's 50% bulk boost makes it viable anyway. Adamant nature with HP-heavy investment EVs shapes the defensive spread, and Torrent adds utility. Rest patches up chip damage.

Marshtomp is meant to evolve into Swampert. At 405 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
Torrent strengthens water moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less — that's the one you want on Marshtomp. Damp is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.
Base 50 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Marshtomp is a physical attacker with base 85 Attack. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.
