Sun & Moon Melemele Sea
Sharpedo Jet is what makes this open Melemele water worth crossing: it blasts apart the rocks hiding a secret passage through to Ten Carat Hill. Without that ride the sea is just islets and reef, nowhere in particular to reach.
Melemele Sea is in Alola, with Hau'oli City to the north and Kala'e Bay to the west. In the story it comes after Route 6 and before Royal Avenue.

Melemele Sea Guide
Fishing in Alola only happens at set spots, which look like a pile of rocks with a hole in the middle sitting on the surface, and the prompt appears when you walk up to one rather than from your bag. Plenty of water has no spot at all. Lapras Paddle reaches the ones out past the shallows.
Bubbles mean that spot has swapped to a rarer table for a single cast, reeling anything in spends them, and they'll pop early if you sprint over or ride straight across, which is before you get to the fact that plenty of fishing areas never bubble at all.
