Raw HP carries Gogoat's bulk more than the defenses do. Defense barely registers. But that HP pool covers for it. A tough to catch Mount Pokemon that yields 2 HP EVs on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.

  • Sap Sipper changes the entire equation for Gogoat. The 531 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier as a tank.

  • Watch for Infernape (Fire), Kyurem (Ice), and Roserade (Poison) when using Gogoat. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Flying and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Sap Sipper is what you want on Gogoat. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Grass Pelt) work on paper but Sap Sipper is what makes Gogoat worth using.

  • At base 68 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Gogoat is a mixed attacker with base 100 Attack and 97 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a tank.

  • Run Bulk Up, Horn Leech, Synthesis, and Aerialace on Gogoat. Bulk Up is the most common pick at 23% usage. This set covers the tank role with a mix of damage and utility.

Gogoat joined the series in X & Y and has been available in 6 titles so far. With 5 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
