Stats & Training
Beedrill's spread isn't flashy. Attack leads, Defense trails, 2 stats clear the bar. Tough to catch and worth 3 Attack and Sp. Def EVs, on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
It has three poisonous stingers on its forelegs and its tail. They are used to jab its enemy repeatedly.
May appear in a swarm. Flies at violent speeds, all the while stabbing with the toxic stinger on its rear.
Beedrill Weakness
Beedrill's Bug/Poison typing leaves it vulnerable to Fire, Flying, Psychic, and Rock. It resists 5 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Beedrill's special bulk (base 80 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fire, Flying, Psychic, Rock |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Poison, Bug, Fairy |
| 0.25x (Resist) | Grass, Fighting |
In X & Y, Zapdos's Heat Wave hits Beedrill for 74-87%. Tyranitar's Stone Edge also KOs at 312-368%.

X & Y Evolution
Beedrill is the final form in a three-stage chain from Weedle through Kakuna. Breeding this form produces Weedle eggs (quick to hatch). Evolving from Weedle gave Beedrill the biggest boost in Sp.Def (+60), bringing the total to 395 stats. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
X & Y Beedrill Best Moveset
U-turn keeps your team's momentum going. Beedrill doesn't need to stay in long, Life Orb provides extra damage on every hit for a health trade and max Attack and Speed EVs make every visit count. Xscissor threatens on the way out. Sniper adds passive value.

Moves
Without TMs, Beedrill's movepool is bare bones. With them, you get Normal and Dark coverage and more on top of Sludge Bomb and Poison Jab for STAB. The natural kit handles basics, but TMs are doing the real work.

How to Get Beedrill in X & Y
You're catching Weedle first, not Beedrill. Weedle appears at solid rates in the encounters below. The step cards map the full 3-stage chain with evolution methods between each stage.
How to Obtain Beedrill in X & Y
The path to Beedrill starts with Weedle at Lv. 2-4 via walking encounters. 2 catchable stages total, with locations listed for each one below.
Beedrill Guide
In X & Y, Beedrill has a 395 base stat total and ranks as C-Tier: a niche pick in X & Y's meta. It works best as a balanced. Xscissor with Life Orb is the standard set.
In X & Y, yes. Mega Beedrill hits 495 BST, a solid jump from the base 395. Hold the Mega Stone, trigger it in battle, and it lasts the whole fight. One Mega per team.
Swarm strengthens bug moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less. That's the one you want on Beedrill. Sniper is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.
In X & Y, Beedrill fills the balanced role. It's leaning toward the physical side (base 90 Attack). Base 75 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many.
Game Availability
Beedrill first appeared in Red & Blue and spans 19 games across 10 generations. It later gained a Mega form in Generation 7, adding new dimensions to its competitive identity.
