Nothing about Beedrill screams competitive powerhouse, and that's fine. Bug/Poison means 5 type weaknesses to keep in mind. The stat spread favors raw physical power. Been around since Gen 1.

Beedrill's spread isn't flashy. Attack leads, Defense trails, 2 stats clear the bar. Tough to catch and worth 3 Attack and Special stat exp, on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.

Beedrill Weakness

Fragile

Beedrill's Bug/Poison typing leaves it vulnerable to Fire, Flying, Psychic, Bug, and Rock moves. Beedrill's special bulk (base 80 Special) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Gen I Type Chart
  • Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
  • Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
  • Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split

Evolve Weedle at level 10 to get Beedrill. At 385 stats, this Bug/Poison type caps the chain without any egg option. Evolving from Weedle gave Beedrill the biggest boost in Special (+60), bringing the total to 385 stats.

Without TMs, Beedrill's movepool is bare bones. With them, you get Normal and Grass coverage on top of Twineedle and Pin Missile for STAB. The natural kit handles basics, but TMs are doing the real work.

  3. Beedrill
    Step 3Beedrill
  • Beedrill has a 385 base stat total and ranks as C-Tier — a situational pick that fills a niche. It works best as a balanced.

  • Watch for Arcanine (Fire), Dodrio (Flying), and Starmie (Psychic) when using Beedrill. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Bug and Rock-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Kakuna evolves into Beedrill at level 10. Beedrill is the final evolution in a 3-stage line starting from Weedle.

  • Beedrill fills the balanced role. It's a physical attacker with base 80 Attack. Base 75 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many.

  • Beedrill appears in 19 games, including Yellow, Red & Blue, and Gold & Silver.

Beedrill first appeared in Red & Blue and spans 19 games across 9 generations. It later gained a Mega form in Generation 7, adding new dimensions to its competitive identity.
